19th Century Irish Queen Anne Armchair
Bench-made 19th-century Irish Chippendale armchair. A mahogany swan‑back armchair with delicately carved floral crests, the shaped, conforming splat featuring a refined carved recess. Setback, finger‑carved scrolled knuckle arms with gracefully curved supports lead to a serpentine front seat fitted with a wool crewelwork slip seat depicting two deer beneath a fruit tree. The robust frame and front cabriole legs display a beaded edge, acanthus‑leaf carved knees and padded feet. The back legs are elegantly shaped and connected by a turned urn-and-block side stretcher and a sinuous center stretcher.
