19th Century English Pine Leather-tufted Country Bench

$4,500.00

A remarkable survivor of late 19th-century English Country design showcases a magnificent marriage of rugged industrial engineering and seasoned character. The long, low-profile seat is formed from a substantial partial log, upholstered in thick cowhide leather featuring deep diamond button-tufting, bordered by rows of darkened iron or brass upholstery tacks. The leather has developed a deep caramel patina, enriched by authentic craquelure and surface wear that highlights its long history.

The base is constructed with splayed ladder-form legs, secured to the cross-stretchers using traditional, wedged through-mortise and tenon joinery. This structural framework is locked rigidly into place by a massive, oxidized iron tension tie-rod running the full length of the undercarriage.

This incredibly sturdy bench is perfect as a statement entryway piece or a rustic accent at the foot of a bed.

Size: 22.5" H x 71" L x 16.5" W
