This rare form known as the knee-hole writing table was introduced into England around 1690-1700. The top opens and a writing flap lets down disclosing three small drawers. Set above a knee-hole with cupboard and flanked either side by two drawers. The capping on the legs and the bun feet are richly carved and gilded. The lines of this beautiful piece possess an attraction seldom found in marquetry furniture. The condition throughout is excellent considering age and use.
